What should I expect?
Come as you are. We are here to experience God's love and grace together. What do I wear? Be yourself! Be comfortable! Jeans are fine, as are shorts. Neckties and heels are rare. Where do I park? You may park anywhere you like. Our main Sanctuary doors are located on Houston Street or you may enter through our doors on S. Cowen St. In either case, just head up the stairs to the Sanctuary. If you need an elevator, please enter through the S Cowen St. entrance. Will I be asked to join some group or club? No. Just come in and experience the presence of God. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to join activities when YOU are ready. What if I have questions when I arrive? Greeters will meet you as you enter and can help you find restrooms, coffee & kids rooms. If you have any questions, we are here for you! What if I have small children? Garrett LOVES kids! We want your child’s first Sunday to be filled with fun and learning. Children and adults worship together in the sanctuary. Busy Bags are available for the children's use during worship and children will be invited forward for a special Children's Sermon during the service. Will I have to give money? Somewhere in each service there will be an opportunity to respond to God's grace in our lives through an offering. This is an act of worship in which we respond to God's blessings in our lives by offering some portion of ourselves and our resources back to God. You are welcome to participate or not as you feel led. Whether or not you are placing any money in the offering plate, we encourage you to use this time to consider what you have to offer to God--whether it be your gifts, your talents, your time, or some portion of your resources. |
What are the services like?
There is something for everyone. Throughout the service there will be times for singing, praying, listening, and responding as we encounter the Living God through the Risen Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. We generally celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of the month. Services last approximately one hour. What Communion means to us? We believe Jesus Christ is truly present with us in Holy Communion and that we receive God's grace through this sacred meal. We offer "open Communion" which means that you need not be a member of this church or any church to participate. All are welcome at the Lord's Table! If you prefer not to receive Communion you are invited to come forward for a blessing. The elements we use are bread and grape juice. If you have a gluten sensitivity or other allergies that limit your participation in this Sacrament, please let an usher or the pastor know and we will be happy to accommodate your needs in order to facilitate your full participation in this means of grace. |
